How We Helped Our Client Declutter and Organize Their Office in Metairie
During a recent whole-home organizing project in Metairie, our team helped a client declutter and organize his home office.
Three organizers worked throughout the home during a five-hour session, dividing up to tackle different areas. One organizer spent about three hours in the office, helping create more open space and a better setup for working from home and Zoom calls.
The result was a more functional room with a clear home for the items that stayed and a workspace our client could enjoy using.
Before: An Office Ready for a New System
Over time, the office had collected items from around the house alongside the things used for work. We started by looking at the room as a whole and identifying what would help it function better.
Before putting anything back, we took everything out of the areas we were organizing so each item could be reviewed and placed intentionally.
Step 1 Review Every Item Together
We worked through the office with our client and helped him decide what to keep, donate, toss, or move to another room. Many of the items belonged elsewhere in the home, so identifying those pieces was an important part of creating more usable space.
Once the decisions were made, items leaving the office were grouped by their next destination and the room was ready to organize.
Step 2 Organize What Was Staying
After the review, we organized the items that belonged in the office and gave each one a clear home. Keeping work-related items together made the room easier to use, while removing pieces that belonged elsewhere opened up the space.
- Work and office essentials
- Items that belong in other rooms
- Pieces selected for donation
- Clear surfaces for everyday work
- Items arranged for easy access
- A simple system to maintain
The Finished Office
With the room decluttered and the remaining items organized, the office had significantly more open space and a clearer working area. The desk setup was easier to use, and the room created a more comfortable backdrop for Zoom calls.
Each item that stayed had a place, giving our client a practical system he could keep up with after the session.
What Changed
Items that belonged elsewhere were moved out, giving the office room to function.
Work-related items were organized so the office is easier to use day to day.
