Master Bedroom Declutter

Mid-City, Orleans Parish

The bedroom is supposed to be the most restful room in your home. For a lot of people, it is the most stressful. Laundry piles on chairs. Drawers won't fully close. The nightstand has turned into a catch-all. Getting dressed in the morning takes longer than it should because nothing has a real home.

Bedroom disorganization usually is not about laziness. It is about never having a system that matched how you actually live. Drawers get overstuffed because there is no clear category for each one. Surfaces pile up because there is nowhere logical to put things. We fix the system, not the habit.

As Nola Organizers, we work in bedrooms across Greater New Orleans — from Uptown shotgun houses to Metairie ranch homes — and the challenges are always the same at the core: too much stuff, not enough designated homes, and a setup that never accounted for how the room is actually used. We sort through everything, clear what does not belong, and put the rest back in a way that makes your morning routine genuinely easier.

Bedroom Areas We Organize

Every part of the bedroom gets its own approach based on how you actually use it.

Dressers and Chests of Drawers

Drawers are where clothing organization either holds or completely falls apart. We sort every drawer by category, fold or file items so you can actually see what is in there, and set it up so it stays that way. No more digging through a tangled pile to find one shirt.

Nightstands and Bedside Areas

The stuff that accumulates on and around a nightstand is not random — it reflects your nightly routine. We edit it down to what you actually use before bed, give everything a home, and clear the surface so it feels calm rather than cluttered.

Under-Bed Storage

Under the bed is premium real estate that most people use as a dumping ground. We sort whatever is down there, figure out what genuinely belongs (seasonal clothing, extra linens, out-of-rotation shoes), and contain it properly so it is accessible without becoming a mess again.

Wardrobes and Armoires

Wardrobes require a different approach than closets because the space is compact and typically divided between hanging, shelving, and drawer sections. We organize each zone by how often you reach for it and build a system that works with how you actually get dressed.

Shared Bedrooms

When two people share a bedroom, the organization challenges double. Two wardrobes, two nightstand habits, two different ideas of where things go. We divide the space clearly, make sure both sides work for the person using them, and set up a system that does not create daily friction.

Kids' Bedrooms

Kids' bedrooms have to serve as sleeping space, play space, and storage all at once. We build systems a child can maintain, with clear categories, accessible bins, and age-appropriate organization that does not require adult intervention every time something needs to be put away.

Guest Bedrooms and Multi-Use Rooms

Guest bedrooms often double as storage rooms between visits, which means they serve neither function well. We help you organize the space so it is genuinely ready for guests while still functioning as useful storage when no one is staying. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

How It Works

Our Bedroom Organizing Process

01

Consultation and Bedroom Assessment

We start by talking through how you use your bedroom. Morning routines, what you reach for most, what keeps piling up, and where the real friction points are. That conversation shapes everything that comes after.

02

Sorting and Decluttering

We work through every surface, drawer, and storage area together. You decide what stays. We handle the editing process without pressure, and anything leaving the room — donations, items for other rooms, trash — gets dealt with before we leave.

03

Organizing and Placing

Once the bedroom is down to what belongs, we organize everything with intention. Clothing gets folded and filed into drawers. Surfaces get cleared down to the essentials. Storage areas get assigned categories that match how you live.

04

Finishing and Labeling

We finish with any containers, dividers, or labels that support the system. The bedroom should feel like a room you want to be in when we leave, not a space you are tolerating.

Day of Service

What to Expect on Bedroom Organizing Day

We arrive with a clear plan. Before the session we have talked through your goals, the specific areas that need the most attention, and any items or categories that need special consideration. There are no surprises when we walk in.

Most clients prefer to let us work while they go about their day. We pull out, sort, and reorganize each area methodically. If you want to be involved for certain decisions — especially clothing you are on the fence about — we make that easy. If you want to leave and come home to a finished room, we can handle it.

When the session ends, every surface is clear, every drawer is organized, and the room is ready to use. If you also need the closet addressed, we can coordinate that as part of the same session or as a follow-up — our closet organization services work seamlessly alongside bedroom organizing.

Why Work With Us

What Makes Our Bedroom Sessions Different

No Judgment, Ever

We have walked into bedrooms in every possible state. There is nothing you could show us that would change how we treat you or how we approach the work. We mean that.

You Make Every Decision

We guide the process but you control what stays and what goes. If you are unsure about something, we set it aside. Nothing leaves the room without your say-so.

Systems That Match How You Live

We do not build picture-perfect bedrooms that only work in theory. We ask how you actually get dressed, where you tend to drop things, and what your mornings look like. The system fits your life, not someone else's.

Donations Leave With Us

We box up anything you are donating and take it to a local donation center. One load per session, handled. Your room is done when we leave — not half-done waiting for you to deal with a pile.

We Can Pair with Closet Organizing

The bedroom and closet are connected spaces. We can tackle both in the same session or schedule closet work as a follow-up, whatever makes more sense for the scope of your project.

Available Across Greater New Orleans

We serve New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge, Harahan, Gretna, Marrero, and surrounding areas. No matter where you are in the metro, we can get there.

Common Questions

Bedroom Organizing Questions Answered

Do I need to clean up before you arrive?
No. We have organized bedrooms in every possible condition. Come as you are. The mess is exactly what we are there to work through together.
What do you do with clothing I want to donate?
We box it up during the session and our organizers can typically take one donation drop-off to a local New Orleans donation center per session. Nothing you are letting go of needs to sit around waiting for you to deal with later.
Can you organize just one part of the bedroom, like only the dresser?
Yes. We can focus on one specific area if that is what you need. Some clients want a full bedroom overhaul and others just need help with a specific problem area. We work with whatever scope makes sense for you.
How long does a bedroom organizing session take?
A typical bedroom session runs five to five and a half hours. A single well-contained room can be completely transformed in that time. Larger projects or rooms with significant accumulation may take longer, which we will be upfront about after the consultation.
Will you help me figure out what to keep and what to let go?
Yes, if you want that support. Some clients want to make every decision themselves and just need us to execute. Others want a thought partner for the harder calls. We follow your lead and never pressure you to get rid of anything.
Do you organize kids' bedrooms differently than adult bedrooms?
Yes. Kids' rooms need systems children can actually maintain. That means lower hanging rods, open bins for toys, visible labels with pictures if needed, and organization that does not fall apart the first week of school. We build age-appropriate systems that work in real life.
