How We Organized Our Client’s Kitchen in New Orleans

1Whole-kitchen reset

Our client asked us to organize her entire large kitchen, from everyday dishes and utensils to cookware, appliances, food storage, and under-sink supplies.

Two organizers worked through roughly 30 or more cabinets and drawers in 5.5 hours. We emptied each space, wiped it down, sorted and categorized the contents, and returned everything to a more practical home.

Step 1 Empty and Clean Each Space

We worked cabinet by cabinet and drawer by drawer so every area received the same complete reset. Once a space was empty, we wiped it down before returning any items.

This method gave us a clear view of what the kitchen contained and made it easier to build useful categories without overlooking items stored in another area.

Step 2 Sort With the Client’s Input

As we sorted, obvious trash was removed. If there was any uncertainty about an item, we confirmed with the client before discarding it.

We grouped similar items such as spices, condiments, bowls, dishes, plates, appliances, mugs, glasses, utensils, cookware, water bottles, and food-storage containers. Items were also moved when another cabinet or drawer offered a more practical location for how the kitchen is used.

Drawers, Cookware, and Food Storage

Frequently used items were grouped into clear, easy-to-return categories. The goal was not only a neat finish, but a kitchen that would be simpler to use and maintain.

Under-Sink Storage Reset

We also organized the under-sink areas, keeping related supplies together and making the available cabinet space easier to use.
