How We Organized a Closet for a Client in Metairie, LA

By Nola Organizers · · Metairie, Jefferson Parish
5 hrs Session time
1 Organizer
2–2.5 hrs Closet time
1 Donation drop-off

During a five-hour organizing session in Metairie, one organizer helped our client refresh her closet and work through a few additional areas of her home.

The closet portion of the visit took about two to two and a half hours. Together, we made room for the clothing and accessories our client wanted to keep, then created a clear system that feels good to use day to day.

Before: Preparing the Closet for a Fresh Start

We began by taking everything out of the closet so our client could look through each item at her own pace. We supported her as she decided what to keep, donate, or set aside.

Once the closet was cleared, we wiped down the space before bringing back the items she chose to keep.

Step 1 Sort with the Client

Working alongside the client made it easy to keep the process focused on the items that fit her life now. We sorted through clothing and accessories, grouped donation items separately, and kept the decisions moving at a comfortable pace.

  • Clothing our client wanted to keep
  • Items selected for donation
  • Pieces set aside during the review
  • Accessories and closet storage items

Step 2 Build a Simple Closet System

After the review, we returned the remaining pieces by category and color. Like all of our closet organization services, the layout was designed to make getting dressed and putting things away more straightforward.

Similar items are together, colors flow naturally across the hanging space, and the shelves hold the pieces that belong there.

Step 3 Handle the Donation Drop-Off

As part of the session, we took the donation items our client selected to a local donation center. This gave her a completed next step without needing to make an extra trip herself.
